May/June 2015

1. An Old friend/lover texted me and said she misses me. I don't feel the same way. What's a good way to respond?  - Mane

Petrie - Dear Mane, I wouldn't respond at all. Why open a can of worms if u don't feel the same?

Rikki - I'm sure you have heard of the term "the friend zone." This young lady is trying to sneak out of it. Its good not to lead her on, but not to be unnecessarily rude. Here's where you have the definite win in this situation: it was via text. Your conversation with her should go something like this: Her: I miss you Me: Oh hey! Its been a long time! How have you been? *end scene*, very simple! The other safe yet obvious response is of course, no response at all.

2. I found out my boyfriend is cheating. The day I planned to break up, his grandmother died! Do I wait to end things?  - Anonymous

Petrie - Dear Anonymous, that depends on a number of things, #1 how long were u all dating? #2- were u close to his grandmother? #3 will u be attending the funeral?

Rikki - Oooh. This is tough. If you have been with him a while and have even built relationships with the family,  I would focus this time on consoling him and being there for him in his time of need. I remember a time where my husband and i got in a HUGE argument. We had a bad verbal fallout. That night, my nephew was shot. My husband was there for me instead of continuing the silent treatment. Save the breakup for after hes done grieving. Unless you now consider yourself to hate the guy,  you may not want to throw salt on his wound.

3. Is it ok to date your forth cousin?  - Confused

Petrie - Dear Confused, medically no, but morally& ethically HELL YES IT'S ALL KINDS OF WRONG.....

Rikki - I mean,  some would say its fine.  But in my opinion, it's not okay to date ANY cousin or relative,  regardless of generation.  With all the individuals living on earth,  im sure you can find someone else who doesn't share the family name lol
